The Harry Potter saga is at the top of the whole weekend in Figeac. For two days, the cinema offers a real marathon with the projection of eight films and many animations. A unique event that attracts a large audience. Advance sales are a hit…

For the past month, pre-sale tickets have been snapped up at the Charles Boyer Auditorium ticket office… the Harry Potter craze is gaining ground in Figeac. For the first time, the cinema offers an extraordinary weekend dedicated to the saga: on the bill, eight films in two days, Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 January, so exactly 19 hours and 40 minutes of projection. “This is a great start to Astrolabe! Bookings are going very well and we see people from far and wide – from Aveyron, Toulouse and even Paris – coming expressly for this weekend,” marvels Françoise Vidal, director of cinemas at Grand Figeac.
At the origin of the project, his associate in charge of animations Opale Muckensturm, who joined the team this summer, is not really surprised. “Harry Potter is an event. It is very special and intergenerational”, enthuses the one who had successfully organized a similar marathon at the Cahors cinema. Hélène Lacipière, vice-president of Grand Figeac in charge of culture welcomes this unprecedented initiative. “This marathon is a great idea. At Figeac you can see eight films with entertainment for 28 euros. Spectators can come for a day, half day or see a single film. It is an example of a cultural project in Grand Figeac with access to all its financial, social, physical dimensions…”

“It’s a real phenomenon”

Among friends and family, fans sign up in large numbers and often in groups to attend the party. Some will even come in disguise to blend in with the atmosphere. In addition to films to watch or watch again on the big screen, many activities are offered to entertain the public totally captivated by the adventures of the famous magician. “The cinema will be fully decorated. Several activities are planned, such as the opening morning of the Sorting Chapel ceremony to assign the houses of each spectator. Those who complete the marathon will be entitled to a personalized diploma. We’ll also have quizzes with lots of prizes to be won, and even a potions workshop hosted by Embrumes Alley, the Harry Potter shop on rue d’Aujou. And in partnership with Cauvaldor, a visit to Hogwarts with a virtual reality headset” details the team on deck for this great challenge. A food truck will be present in front of the cinema to satiate spectators between films.
Everything is ready for the magic to work in the Astrolabe. Harry Potter has long been a star out there, on the media side, with no less than 50 books in circulation. “It’s interesting to see the connection between the cinema and the media library,” emphasizes Hélène Lacipière. The 50 Harry Potter books are constantly circulating and being read. It is often the book that takes the child from the scrapbook or comic book reader to their first novel. It is a real phenomenon. »
