The history of Rave in France in the metaverse and auction » PACA economic and political paper

Saturday 4 February 2023 will take place an event dedicated to the origins of French Raves.

Original collections coming directly from the main actors of the Rave movement in France, will be exhibited at the club Le Sacré in Paris. They are systematically accompanied by a digital version and an NFT certificate. Organized by the Boischaut auction house, the sale will also take place directly on interencheres.com.

This auction with a strong historical character brings together physical and digital collections from the 3 forerunners of Raves in France:

· Manu CASANA — creator of Rave Age parties since 1989, such as the famous raves of Castle of Champigny or Armenian College. He is also the founder of the label Rave Age Records

· Olivier DEGORCE – artist-photographer, who has visibly published Plastic dreams, Rave and Club scene (1991-1999)published in 2018 by Headbangers Publishing (related tag Ed Banger Records)

· Michael MULLENDER — Sound and image reporter, evening and afternoon co-host, he captured many raves with his Sony Hi8 analog camera, a unique and legacy testament to this era (see excerpts from video, AQUATIC 06/29/91The first authorized rave organized in France, with the participation of 2 to 3000 people, Lot no. 42).

For the first time, physical pieces from the French night heritage and electronic culture will be sold, systematically accompanied by a digital version for the metaverse and an NFT certificate. This is how they are offered in the sales catalog :

· 12 original flyers and letters from the first Rave parties in France, hosted by Manu CASANA and a flyer from a TheJAMs party, commented by Bill Drummond and Jimmy Cauty and 1 new, original, cellophane-wrapped copy of the legendary What The Fuck’s Going On? » from 1987, absolutely rare because it is banned as soon as it comes out

· tracks from the Rave Age Records label, such as First French Maxi house vinyl matrix : Sexe de Discotique, Patrick Vidal and Christophe Monnier (Lot n°5), sequencer TB-303 by Manu CASANA, which was used especially for the production of titles from Les Pills, but also Nova Nova and Juan Trip (Lot n °6 ) and a collection of 69 badges (pins) distributed during raves, designed and hand-made by organizers with large tables (Lot No. 16)

· 25 photographs by Olivier Degorcesome of which have already been published in his now cult book, Plastic Dreams – Rave and Club Scenes (1991-1999). Fine Art photographs will be limited edition under dibond or non-limited edition

· 2 new videos from Michel Mullender a montage of which will be broadcast in situ, in the Sacré (see excerpts from the video AQUATIC 29/06/91 – The first authorized rave organized in France, with the participation of 2 to 3000 people, Lot 42).
