Metaverse: a way to save the Amazon rainforest?

If the metaverse, this burgeoning virtual universe, is undoubtedly a new social and work experience revolutionizing our digital world, it is currently poorly understood and unframed. This is why the Go4Metaverse think tank was born. It aims not only to promote its many benefits, but also to explain social responsibility and ethical practices for Web3 and metaverse pioneers. Let’s discover the projects resulting from the Go4Metaverse initiative.

Why bet on the metaverse?

It is undeniable that metaverse it is becoming an exponentially growing market. According to a study by Gartner1 in 4 people will spend 1 hour per day in the metaverse by 2026. This growth is driven by technological advances such as virtual reality and augmented reality, which make the user experience increasingly immersive.

Additionally, the metaverse has many potential use cases, ranging from professional training to augmented reality to video games. It can also be used to improve communication between people or for immersive experiences.

Furthermore, the metaverse is considered to be a key tool for tomorrow’s economy. It enables the creation of new economic models, new business opportunities and new jobs.

What is Go4Metaverse?

Go4Metaverse, is a spontaneous collective initiative of Web3 companies and associations inspired by Chef Almir during his European tour in 2022, which aims to raise the awareness of political leaders about the ongoing deforestation of the Amazon.

The Go4Metaverse Collective, modeled on the partnership between Chief Almir and Google Earth, wants to raise the visibility of this war by making it true in the metaverse, making both the developers and users of the metaverse aware of the human and environmental issues protected by first peoples.

The first meeting in the metaverse with Surui people took place on June 20, 2022 at WorkAdventure with the initiative of Nancy V. Gomez (Khepry88), Gaël Dupert de (Book of the Year Meta) and Emmanuel Moyrand (France Meta). Presented to the community at the Metavers Summit and MetaDays. Go4Metaverse has since become a community and network of web3 ambassadors hosted and administered by Khepry88.

Isaure Courcenet will also deal with the topic of digital identity, as well as the challenge of peer-to-peer communication in tomorrow’s world.

Why is it important to build a responsible and sustainable metaverse in France and in Europe?

France in the first place and Europe in the second place have a privileged position to build a corresponding metaverse. It is necessary to have an entity to coordinate the efforts of all actors involved. Go4Metaverse is a key player in meeting this challenge.

However, we must not forget that technological innovation must be accompanied by ethical reflection to avoid the pitfalls that can accompany this revolution.

Ethical issues in the metaverse revolution

In addition to being an innovative tool, the metaverse must also be ethical. It is essential to protect users from abuse and virtual violence, guarantee data confidentiality and respect the rights of content creators.

By now committing to uphold standards of propriety, Go4Metaverse and its members act proactively to build an ethical metaverse.

Metaverse to save the Amazon rainforest

January 2023 marks a milestone for the Go4Metaverse. Indeed, the association will see its new project presented by Isaure Courcenet during the Crypto Summit that is taking place in parallel with the World Economic Forum in Davos. Thus giving the ambassador of the association the opportunity to highlight the AMAR (Amazing Metaverse Amazon Rainforest) program, launched in 2022 by Go4Metaverse in partnership with Chef Almir and Google Earth. This program aims to raise awareness among Metaverse developers and users about the human and environmental issues related to Amazon deforestation. It will be developed in collaboration with META REILA, Chef Almir’s association, and will provide training for new users of Metavers and games.
