Wear virtual reality glasses and enjoy 360-degree panoramic movies; enter a virtual reality exhibition hall and immerse yourself in ancient buildings… From industrial production, cultural tourism to education, science popularization, performing arts and entertainment, China’s virtual reality industry has accelerated its development, integrated into thousands of industries and entered thousands of families.

Virtual reality is an important frontier direction of the new generation of information technologies, as well as a key future area of the digital economy. Recently, the Global Virtual Reality Industry Conference 2022 was held in Nanchang, the capital of East China’s Jiangxi Province, attracting more than 3,000 industry experts and entrepreneurs from more than 20 countries and regions. During the opening ceremony, virtual digital host “Jiang Xiaowei”, virtual digital host, made a new appearance, capturing and cloning the actions and micro-expressions of live presenters at the right time to achieve a synchronous presentation.

In recent years, the Chinese virtual reality market has grown. It even doubled from 28.28 billion yuan in 2019 to 58.39 billion yuan in 2021. It is estimated that this rapid growth will continue over the next three years and exceed the mark of 100 billion yuan. Here it is 2023.

The booming virtual reality industry is bringing a new round of favorable policies. Recently, China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, Ministry of Education and five other ministries jointly released the Action Plan for the Integration and Development of Virtual Reality and Industrial Applications (2022-2026), which proposes that by 2026 , virtual reality will be widely applied in important economic and social sectors, forming a series of enterprises and industrial groups with relatively strong international competition.

The action plan also proposes building a new ecological development situation with the integration and innovation of virtual reality industry applications and the promotion of new cultural economy consumption with new virtual reality enterprises. Currently, the technical solution of the integration of industry and virtual reality presents a situation of full bloom of technology, products, services and applications.

Taking the culture and tourism industry as an example, the application form of virtual reality has developed from the first scene of virtual reality modeling to the most mature form based on the collection of scenes, creating an immersive experience and providing rich interaction . On the metaverse site of Elephant Trunk Mountain in Guilin, based on the Baidu Xiren platform, users can reach the tourist site with one click through time and space constraints, and independently set a digital avatar to immerse themselves in the mountain of Elephant Trunk with beautiful mountains. and waters, to “walk around the world without leaving home.”

In Tianjin Eco City School, affiliated with Beijing Normal University, students can perform physical experiments on a virtual stage by simply flipping physical cards through the use of smart tables, which not only satisfy students’ repeated experiences in an environment safe learning, but also improves the teaching effectiveness of teachers. In Hangzhou, the capital of east China’s Zhejiang Province, the Xiaoshan County Electricity Supply Company of the State Grid has set up a virtual reality experience room in the technology training school. safety of Qianjiang power plant, combining virtual reality with safety education, so that students can immerse themselves in various dangerous scenes by wearing virtual reality glasses, helping to cultivate and consolidate the awareness of safety workers.

Today, with the help of policies, talents and other factors, China’s virtual reality industry chain has taken a comprehensive shape. According to the five main tasks proposed in the action plan, the technical infrastructure of China’s virtual reality industry is rapidly improving. In terms of public services, the National Product Quality Supervision and Inspection Center for Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality has been approved to be established to continuously improve product performance and the level of industrial technology; in terms of standardization, the relevant ministries have continued their standardization work and published about 20 national and industrial standards over the past three years; in terms of technology, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology recently approved the establishment of the National Virtual Reality Innovation Center, focusing on the main common technical problems and building platforms for the research and development of key key technologies, testing and verification, testing, technique. services and talent training, which will strongly promote the high-quality development of China’s virtual reality industry. It is estimated that by 2026, the overall scale of China’s virtual reality industry will exceed 350 billion yuan, creating an industrial development model where technology, products, services and applications will flourish together.
