These inspiring women still walked the runway after their 45th birthday.

Are you still organizing a fashion show at 55 or 73? Why not! These 45+ women prove that you can still walk the runway with pride and beauty at any age. Themes like diversity and inclusion are more important than ever in fashion. It’s nice to reflect on that on a day like today, International Women’s Day 2022. The supermodels of the 90s are being reused by the big fashion houses; for example, at runway shows for brands like Versace and Dolce & Gabbana, the supermodels of the past (Naomi, Christy, Claudia) walk alongside the supermodels of today (Gigi, Bella and Kendall). From Helen Mirren to Kristen McMenamy; these women show that they have the right attitude to continue directing a fashion show and that their career has no expiration date.

12 old ladies on the catwalk:

Kristen McMenamy (57)

Kristen McMenamy was previously known for her androgynous look and red locks, in recent decades the American model can be recognized by her long gray/blond locks. Kristen continues to be frequently booked for editorials and fashion shows, such as the Versace show during Milan Fashion Week.

Naomi Campbell (51)

Naomi Campbell has never really been out. In recent years, the British top model has regularly attracted attention on international catwalks. In 2021 she still participated in the Lanvin, Balenciaga and Versace shows. And if we look at it closely, it is as if time has stopped.

Cindy Crawford (56)

If there’s one brand included, it’s Rihanna’s Savage X Fenty. For the show (Vol. 3) in September 2021, the singer and designer asked Cindy Crawford to accompany her. The 56-year-old supermodel was even allowed to open the show. If you’re talking about a to return

Christie Turlington (53)

At 50 years old, model Christy Turlington, also one of ‘The Originals’, returned to the catwalks after two decades of absence. She walked in the Marc Jacobs show in 2019. We haven’t seen much of Christy in the spotlight in recent years and she has mostly worked as an activist, including for PETA.

Claudia Schiffer (51)

She hasn’t run a show in years, but for the 2017 Versace show, Claudia Schiffer made an exception. During the show, designer Donatella Versace brought all the original supermodels back to the runway and Claudia was joined by her colleagues Carla Bruni, Claudia Schiffer, Naomi Campbell, Cindy Crawford and Helena Christensen.

Dressed in gold, this was the biggest model comeback in history and some of these ’90s supermodels have been seen regularly on the runway ever since. We only miss Linda Evangelista. She did not appear in public for years due to a failed cosmetic procedure. She recently got back on camera for the first time and opened up about the procedure.

carmen dell orifice (90)

Carmen DellOrefice was still walking arm in arm with a gallant man in 2020 during a New York Fashion Week show. Fashion brand Sheguang Hu demonstrated embracing diversity by hiring the 90-year-old model. Carmen once started modeling when she was 15 years old. She learned young…

Helen Mirren (76)

Helen Mirren walked the L’Oréal catwalk last Paris Fashion Week intense like the much younger models. The British actress wore chunky heels, a flashy suit and a bold eyeliner. That’s how powerful the 76 looks!

Carla Bruni (54)

She entered the world of politics, of course, when she married the president of France, but Carla never fully said goodbye to her modeling career. She was part of the great Versace revival and during Paris Fashion Week in 2021 she walked beautiful as ever in Balmain’s 10th anniversary show.

Milla Jovovich (46)

She spent many hours on the trampoline, but Milla Jovovich looked spectacular on the Balmain catwalk. Besides being a model, Milla is also an actress, so very often we don’t see her on shows anymore. But once she walks, everyone will know too!

porpoise (57)

Marpessa (Hennink) owes her fame to the numerous fashion shows she used to parade. For a little return to the Dolce & Gabbana runway, this ‘runway contessa’ is no exception. And… the half-Dutch, half-Surinamese beauty still has it in her!

kate moss (48)

As her daughter now embodies the new generation of models, Kate once again demonstrates how it should be done. Kate, who, despite her previously unconventional height of 1.70m for models, became one of the greatest British supermodels of all time, walked in the Versace show in September 2021.

Cecilia Chancellor (55)

Last year the British Cecilia Chancellor participated in the Fendi parade at the age of 54. The model, who worked extensively for British Vogue in the 1980s and was also known as the living embodiment of the ‘London girl’, proves once again that age is just a number.
