The metaverse is totally hot and it’s happening. Especially after the rebranding of Facebook to Meta. But which Metaverse crypto currencies should you really follow? What are you investing in and what can you expect? You can read all about the popular cryptocurrencies of the metaverse in this article.
Okay, first things first. Maybe you like the route in cryptoland, but you are not yet very aware of the developments surrounding the metaverse. That’s not surprising at all, because the hype has only just begun.
I have already written a complete guide for you, so I will try to be short and concise here. However, the idea of a virtual shared space dates back to the early 1990s. Neal Stephenson wrote the wonder “Snow Crash,” in which he already explained the basics of the metaverse.
The metaverse is a shared virtual space, which is created through an interaction of augmented reality, virtual reality and the Internet. In fact, we are moving from 2D to 3D, coming together in an all-encompassing virtual universe.
What is crypto?
With the big strides into the metaverse, investor interest has also been piqued. Do you also see a future in this colorful 3D world? Now it’s time to get on board, but how do you do that? First of all, it is good to know what crypto actually is before investing your money.
For years we have become accustomed to cash. Coins and bills in your wallet and in recent years this has become a tidal wave of debit card payments. The fact that you can now pay with your smartphone and Apple Watch is great, of course, but cryptocurrencies are completely the future in the present.
Cryptocurrency is digital money, which you don’t see in your standard bank account. This form of money is not broken and cannot be counterfeited as it is tied to you. Only the owner has access to this treasure chest, which is why your login and security codes are so essential. You can request a forgotten PIN code again, but a missed seed phrase means day coins†

What about the combination? Now you know a bit about the metaverse and you know what crypto is. But in the world of metaverse currencies, these two sides come together. The impact of these fairly recent developments can be clearly expressed in the market capitalization of the metaverse.
The market capitalization represents the total size of the coins in the metaverse., which is calculated by multiplying the number of coins by the current price. You can imagine this happening with ups and downs, but at the time of writing, the total market capitalization of the metaverse is $25.4 billion!
Then, we will now discuss the top 10 coins in the metaverse. Are you ready?
1. Infinite Axis (AXS)
Axie Infinity is the blockchain game of the moment. Almost 2 million users play on the Ethereum blockchain every day and not just for fun, because you can also make a great passive income with it. But what does this project have to do with the metaverse? I’ll explain it to you!
Axie Infinity is more than a game, because according to many fans, this is a breakthrough. It is a very futuristic game, where NFTs and the metaverse also come into play. Because it is possible for users to create and play virtual games, this is very similar to what, perhaps, the metaverse will be later on.
In exchange for your participation and your creations, you will receive the AXS token, which is currently priced at €117.14. Do you want to know more about this great game? Check out the video below about the game:
2. Decentralized Country (MANA)
If it says metaverse, it says Decentraland, and vice versa. Decentraland is a decentralized virtual 3D world that, like Axie Infinity, is based on the Ethereum (ETH) blockchain.† A virtual world is exactly what we need to escape our daily grind, right?
The characteristic of Decentraland is that it is governed by users, which is what we also seek for the metaverse. In the crypto scene, this is also called metaverse platform where you can trade real estate with MANA currency.
The price of MANA has risen tremendously in recent months. Who knows where this will go next, so do your research and decide if you want to ride this wave. At your own risk, of course! Watch in the video below what is happening in the metaverse and what Decentraland has to do with it.
3. The sandbox (ARENA)
The last of the top 3 is really The Sandbox (SAND). You can play to your heart’s content in this virtual world. The future of digital life starts here. Through the SAND token you can buy land, cultivate it and earn money.
This gaming platform is also based on the Ethereum (ETH) blockchain, just like numbers 1 and 2 on this list. At the time of writing this article (November 2021), the market capitalization of Sandbox is €2,404,284,312; gigantic and still growing.
In the video below, you can see star gamer Snoop Dogg driving into the Sandbox metaverse. He builds his mansion, hosts live concerts, and released his own NFT avatars. AMAZING!
4. Enjin (ENJ)
This coin may be less known to you, but it is certainly an attractive coin. With a price increase of tens of percent, Enjin (ENJ) is on an interesting course. Enjin doesn’t just focus on gaming, unlike previous coins on this list.
In addition to games, they focus on business cases, such as digital asset support. Digital assets can be created on the platform. Of course, coins that are compatible with Enjin (ENJ). In 2017 they were already working on making the first NFTs. Now you can see in the video below that they are investing heavily in the metaverse.
The ENJ coin is only €2.55 at the time of writing and it is on the rise as you can see here.
5. Star Link (STAR)
StarLink is all the rage right now, as the project enjoys the so-called Elon Musk effect. When the CEO of Tesla talks about a coin, a project or an investment, you see an entire community about to explode a few seconds later.
Starlink is Musk’s Internet constellation and while StarLink (STARL) has nothing to do with these projects, it benefits from its similar name. StarLink is the first 100% decentralized virtual space owned by the community.
Buy, trade or sell satellites, space vehicles and surfaces as you explore the solar system step by step. In the interoperable digital environment, where you can create and customize until you drop, STARL is the stable factor. With a market cap of €698,795,133, it has definitely earned its place in the top 10!
6. Processing Token (RNDR)
Render Token (RNDR) that you can buy today (November ’21) for a meager €3.75. It’s not expensive, but it has a lot of potential. Please note: I am not giving you advice, because you should always do your own research and make an informed decision on whether or not to invest.
The Render Token has everything to do with CPUs, i.e. graphics processors. Share your unused GPU power, without dealing with any technical barriers. People who are not using your renderer are automatically linked with those who have their rendering tasks ready.
By going through this process, users save a significant amount of time and money because they don’t have to purchase expensive computer systems to do the rendering. If you’re talking about rendering the metaverse, it may be that Render Token offers a solution.
7. Deluge (SIL)
Illuvium (ILV) is head and shoulders above the others on this list in terms of course. With a daily closing of more than 900 euros, this is no joke. But what does Illuvium actually mean?
Illuvium is a fantasy combat game set in an open world on the Ethereum Blockchain. The Illuvials live in this fantasy world, which you as a user can capture by defeating them. The creatures are reminiscent of catching Pokemon, but in a much more sophisticated setting.
8. UFO Games (UFO)
“Welcome to the dark metaverse,” reads the headline on the UFO Gaming home page. A virtual world, built on the basis of a closed loop economy† When games are added, the value of the token and the size of the ecosystem increase exponentially.
On the platform, you can work with NFTs, earn DAO rights and earn passive income. You can now reward yourself with a UFO for only €0.000021.
9. Performance Guild Games (YGG)
Yield Guild Games (YGG) is designed to earn money. The so-called play to win principle is seen more often in the world of cryptocurrencies, but it is also sometimes a side effect rather than a starting point. This community is a DAO (Decentralized Autonomous Organization), which focuses on blockchain gaming.
On this platform you can use NFTs from, for example, Axie Infinity, that’s right: number 1 on our list, to build your own valuable virtual universe.
Bringing users together in an all-in-one gaming world, that’s pretty much the motto. You buy the YGG coin today for an amount of more than €5, so it should be noted that this coin is also growing explosively.
10. Forged Vulcan (PYR)
Vulcan Forged (PYR) is the last in this top 10. Another blockchain game (would we also find something else in the metaverse?) and an NFT market† Games playable on this platform include Vulcan Verse, Forge Arena, Berserk, and Vulcan Chess.
‘Play, build, collaborate, win and bring your ideas to life’, as it appears on the Vulcan Forged site. Make your own NFTs, create dApps and auction your creations: everything is possible!
The PYR token has risen ridiculously in recent months (Oct 2021 up to 200%!), so for many crypto enthusiasts it is a promising project. Again, I am not giving advice or telling you what to do or what to invest in. Always do your own legwork!
You can already see from the article that I have deliberately chosen to keep it a bit modest. These are the top 10 coins in the metaverse at the moment, but the list is not complete. Then it is also possible to drill down by project, but that is not relevant in this article.
Metaverse is the future, that’s for sure. That cryptocurrencies, NFTs, blockchain and gaming will play a role in this: yes sir! But we are still at the base and there is still so much to develop that this is definitely the tip of the iceberg. Make sure to let us know what you think about this!
